Anti-Doping Rules Book

The BAA has in place a set of anti-doping rules that all athletes, coaches and athlete support personnel must abide by. The anti-doping rules for BAA are consistent with the World Anti-Doping Code, which governs anti-doping internationally.

If you are a member of the BAA then these rules apply to you, regardless of what level you participate at.

Code of Conduct

The BAA is committed to promoting the highest standards of integrity, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct in athletics. The BAA has in place a Code of Conduct that outlines the principles and expectations governing the behaviour and actions of all individuals associated with BAA, including athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and supporters.

What is a Therapeutic Use Exemption?

The Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) process is a means by which an athlete can obtain approval to use a prescribed prohibited substance or method for the treatment of a legitimate medical condition.

There are two types of TUE available:

Application for a TUE must be made in advance of using the prohibited medication and, in line with the WADA regulations, is only required for national and international level athlete.

Athletes who are not national or international level and are using a prohibited medication for therapeutic purposes, apply for a TUE only if and when they are selected for testing.

For national level athletes please visit the BNADO website (Link here) for more information and to submit a TUE application.

For international level athletes please visit the AIU website (Link here) for more information and to submit a TUE application.

For assistance on how to submit a TUE application please contact the BAA (link here)
