Bahrain’s national athletics team yesterday (Monday) were given a special welcome on return from Muscat, where they competed at the ongoing Fourth GCC Women’s Games. The nationals dominated the two-day athletics events, held at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex track in Boshar, where they took 15 medals in total (7 gold, 7 silver and 1 bronze).
Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar congratulated the team on arrival, and praised their outstanding form and impressive results throughout the athletics competitions. He conveyed the greetings of representatives of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to members of the team and his best wishes in future events.
On his part, Bahrain team coach Khalid Juma expressed pride for the remarkable achievement of the Bahraini athletes in this major regional championship, which came as a result of the efforts of Bahrain Athletics Association, headed by president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
