The Bahrain Athletics Association participated in the 25th General Assembly of the Asian athletics Association that was held recently in Bangkok, Thailand. The association was represented by Yusuf Ahmed Secretary General and Treasurer Eng. Bader Naser Mohamed.
During the meeting, Dahlan Al-Hamad from Qatar was chosen by acclamation as President of the Asian Athletics Association for Election cycle until 2027. The General Assembly meeting witnessed participation of 44 federations out of the 45 that make up the Asia continent. It is worth mentioning that the meeting also coincided with the 50th anniversary of the of the Association establishment.
There were 16 members nominated for the membership of the Asian Athletics Board of Directors’, and 8 new members were elected for the next session: Roland Saadeh from Lebanon, Mohamed Abdullah Al Murr from the Emirates, Rajeev Bikram from Nepal, Agapito Capistrano from the Philippines, Kuo Wan-ki from Hong Kong, Sheng Wang from China Taipei, Nguyen Mang Hung from Vietnam, and Boon Chil Koo from South Korea.
The seat of First Vice-President of the Association has gone by acclamation the Thai General Surapong Ariamogkul, while the geographical distribution of the regions decided the position of Vice-Presidents: the Kuwaiti Mr. Siyar Al Enezi, Mr. Wang Nan from China, the Indonesian Mr. Tegor Mangapol, Mr. Muhammad Akram from Pakistani, and the Uzbek Mr. Andrey Abdulovalev.
During the meeting, a new logo for the Asian Athletics Association was also approved.
