The Athletics Team participates in the World Championship

Our national athletics team is participating in the World Championships for men and women, hosted by Hungary from August 19 to 27, 2023, where 2187 both sex athletes will take part representing 202 countries, 177 countries of them will participate in the men’s competitions and 128 countries in the women’s category.

Our national team list includes 5 athletes, two of them to represent the Men’s Team: Birhanu Balew 10000m and 5,000m, Abdi Ali the marathon, whereas the triple Women’s Team: Winfred Yavi 3000m steeplechase, Olekemi Adikoya 400m, and Rose Chelimo the marathon.

The official staff is accompanied by the national team director, Mohamed Abdulaziz, while the technical staff includes Jose, Clonzo, and Abraham.

The Kingdom of Bahrain is marking its 9th participation in the World Athletics Championships, as it will pave the way for the Paris Olympics 2024.

The 17th World Athletics Championships for men and women – which was held in the Doha, Qatari – witnessed the Kingdom of Bahrain winning three colorful medals, including a historic gold won by Ms. Salwa Eid Naser in 400m race,  and a silver by Ms. Rose Chelimo in the women’s marathon. Besides, a historic bronze medal was achieved by Salwa Eid Naser, Aminat Jamal, Abbas Abubakar, and Musa Isah the 4×400 mixed relay team in exciting race that will never be forgotten.
